Process of an API integration

  1. Registering in the DATEV Developer Portal and creating a Developer Organization

First, register and login to the DATEV Developer Portal. After registering, you can create a Enterprise Organization (see navigation). Here you can either link an existing, suitable consultant number (Beraternummer) to the enterprise organization or create a new consultant number (Beraternummer). This consultant number (Beraternummer) will be needed at a later stage.

  2. Bestellung Onboarding-Paket & Terminbuchung

The consultant number (Beraternummer) linked or created in the first step can then be used to order the mandatory onboarding package and book the first appointment at www.datev.de/online-kalender-schnittstellen. If required, the consultant number (Beraternummer) can be retrieved after prior login in the DATEV Developer Portal at Developer Organization.

  3. Einstiegsberatung (optional, but recommended)

n this appointment, a DATEV consultant will discuss your use case with you, give you important tips and explain the next steps. Individual questions can be clarified at the end. This appointment is optional, but recommended. This allows you to ensure that the selected online API also supports your use case. The contingent of the onboarding package is therefore designed in such a way that this consultation is also covered.

  4. Technical check - file format

If a file format (e.g. DATEV format or ASCII format) is used for your use case within the Online APIs, a technical check for this file format is also mandatory. For information on how this sample data should be structured, please refer to the interface specifications. Note that you do not need to be present at this appointment and you will be emailed the results of the test.

  5. Implementation - sandbox environment

You will now be able to implement the connection to our online API on your own in the sandbox environment. As soon as you have successfully completed your self-tests on the basis of our interface specifications, you can book an appointment with us for the technical test (sandbox environment).

  6. Technical review- sandbox environment

You make an appointment with a DATEV consultant. You present your interface solution in the sandbox environment on the basis of our interface specifications. If the test is successful, you will be given access to our production environment. Here you can implement the final version. If the test is not successful, you will be able to repeat the test at any time.

  7. Implementation - production environment

In the production environment, you will now have the opportunity to test your integration extensively using the test data and to map any special cases that may arise. Important: Production access is limited to three months. After this period, your API client will be switched back to the sandbox environment. As soon as your self-testing against our interface specifications is successful, you book an appointment with us for a technical review (production).

  8. Technical review - production environment

You make an appointment with a DATEV consultant. You present your interface solution in the production environment based on our interface specifications. If successful, you then get unlimited access to our production environment.

Congratulations! You have done it!

Our DATEV Developer Portal also lists software manufacturers with commercial software solutions/standard software (i.e. no solutions purely for own use).

For further advice on implementation, you are also welcome to contact us. Should you require additional work beyond the 4 hours included in the onboarding contract (e.g. also due to the repetition of a technical test), you will be invoiced the current hourly rate in accordance with the DATEV-Preisliste (Schnittstellenberatung, Art-Nr. 71866).
